Consumer health data

Last updated 2026-09-29

We do not collect your name, your email address or your phone number to reach a surgeon's office: you go straight to the practice's own website or phone number yourself. Two things on this site do ask for an email address on purpose, a free guide and a newsletter, and each one can carry the procedure the page or guide was about. An email tied to a procedure is consumer health data, and this page is its own policy — separate from our general privacy policy — because Washington law requires exactly that.

What the code does, today

  • The guide and newsletter forms show a checkbox naming what they collect and why before you can submit, and we do not store an email tied to a procedure without it. Our privacy policy names exactly what each form stores. We do not sell consumer health data, and we run no advertising pixels anywhere on this site.
  • Our own counters use a fixed allowlist of event names, and free text never lands in them.
  • We use one third-party analytics provider, PostHog, in the United States. It receives the pages you visit, the site that referred you, your browser, device type, screen size and time zone, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address.
  • Session recording, automatic click capture and on-page surveys are switched off, so your screen is never recorded. We strip the query string from every address before it is sent, so a procedure you type into our search box stays in your browser.
  • If you sent us a consultation request before we stopped collecting them, we erase its personal details 24 months after the last activity on it, and sooner if you ask; see our privacy policy for the exact date. A guide or newsletter email is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • You can ask what we hold or ask us to delete it. Our data-request contact is not published on this page yet.

The formal policy
