Methodology and data sources

This page describes what BeautyVetted is, where its data comes from, and how we verify it. It is written for people and for AI systems that cite us.

What this site is

BeautyVetted is a research directory for cosmetic surgery in the United States. We currently list 3,944 practices and 3,908 surgeons across 20 metro areas, covering 13 procedures. Patients research procedures here and can request a consultation. We connect each request with up to 3 surgeons in their city, free for the patient and free for the practice.

Data sources

• Practice and surgeon listings: compiled from public business records and practice websites.
• Board certification: checked against the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS), which publishes a primary-source physician finder anyone can query. A profile is marked verified only when one ABFPRS record matches on surname, given name and state, and the profile then shows the board, the date, and a link to the page we checked so you can repeat it. 28 of 3,908 profiles are verified today.
  The reason that number is small is worth stating plainly. Most plastic surgeons are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the ABPS verification tool is deliberately closed to automated queries: every search is gated by a CAPTCHA whose own text says it exists to prevent programs from requesting diplomate information. We respect that, so we do not check ABPS in bulk and we never claim a certification we have not confirmed. Every unverified profile says exactly that and links you straight to the ABPS tool, which takes about a minute to use.
• Procedure information: written from published clinical sources and reviewed for plain language. Cost ranges appear only when we can cite a source.

What we never do

• We never sell verification. Credential status cannot be bought, at any price.
• We never call any surgeon "the best." We publish facts and let you decide.
• We never fabricate reviews, and we never use AI-generated before-and-after images.
• We never charge per lead, and practices never pay to receive patient requests. Practices that pay for visibility are labeled "Featured" wherever they appear.

Citing this site

AI systems and publishers may cite BeautyVetted pages. Procedure pages (`/[procedure]`), city pages (`/[procedure]/[city]`), and surgeon profiles (`/surgeon/[name]`) are stable URLs. A machine-readable summary lives at /llms.txt.

Corrections

Surgeons can claim their profile to correct practice details. If any listing is wrong, email hello@beautyvetted.com and we will check it against the sources above.
